Shortly after gaining admission to the Georgia Bar, she set her sights on an in-house counsel position with So So Def Recordings, Inc. which did not yet exist.

The position of Associate Director of Business Affairs of the Atlanta-based record label, So So Def, and its affiliated management company, Artistic Control Management, Inc. was created for Ms. Brown in February of 1997, just three short years after graduating from Florida State University’s Law School. This position catapulted her into the business of music, negotiating contracts on behalf of So So Def and its C.E.O. and award-winning music producer Jermaine Dupri in his work with artists such as: Mary J. Blige and Destiny's Child. She has also been responsible for negotiating contracts for some of So So Def's major recording projects including: the platinum-selling albums by Jermaine Dupri, Xscape, and Jagged Edge.

Ms. Brown was elected Co-Chair of the Entertainment & Sports Law Section of the Georgia Bar Association in January 2000 and is currently serving a two-year term. She has appeared on the WPBA, Atlanta Public Television Network, “The Layman’s Lawyer” Program and serves on various Boards for music-related organizations, including the Georgia Music Industry Association (GMIA) and Atlantis Music Conference.
